The Anjos Teixeira Museum is devoted to showcasing the sculpture of two great Portuguese Masters, father and son Artur Gaspar and Pedro Augusto dos Anjos Teixeira, and their Naturalist, Realist, Late-Naturalist and Neorealist creations (drawings and sculptures). Both explored the themes of human and animal anatomy, work, freedom, professions, the female condition and historical and religious figures.
On 24 September 1974, Master Pedro Augusto dos Anjos Teixeira officially donated most of his neoclassic work to Sintra City Council, and much of his father's, Artur Gaspar dos Anjos Teixeira.
The works of these two great contemporary master sculptors would thus be brought together in the same space. In 1976, Master Pedro Teixeira's residence opens to the public as a House Museum, becoming a live-in atelier, where the Master taught sculpture between 1977 and 1992.
Later, the inside of the museum underwent reconstruction work, and the walls and pedestals where painted in lighter tones, in order to evidence the difference between what is infrastructure and what is on display, and all items on display were catalogued.
The museum is located in a property constructed in the early 20th century to house a water-mill, in Azinhaga da Sardinha, driven by water from River Porto.
