O Cineteatro Carlos Manuel foi projetado pelo arquiteto Norte Júnior em 1945. Tratava-se dum edifício de tardia feição modernista, enquadrável na tipologia do denominado teatro à italiana, com evidente sobriedade ao nível da fachada. Durante 40 anos constituiu-se como o espaço mais emblemático do quotidiano cultural sintrense.

Em 1985 grande parte do cineteatro foi destruído por um incendio e dois anos mais tarde foi adquirido pela autarquia que o requalificou. Este representativo edifício acolhe desde 2001 o Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval, nome atribuído devido ao grande contributo mecenático dado por Olga Pereira de Melo, marquesa de Cadaval.

The Carlos Manuel Cinetheatre was designed by architect Norte Júnior in 1945. It was a building of late modernist inspiration, part of the so-called ‘Italian theatre’, with an evident sober façade. For 40 years, it was the most emblematic space of Sintra's cultural life.

In 1985, a large part of theatre was destroyed by a fire and, two years later, it was bought by the municipality that requalified it. This representative building has been home to the Olga Cadaval Cultural Centre since 2001, a name given by Olga Pereira de Melo, Marquess of Cadaval.
